We provide all the training, insurances and safety wear you will need to ensure a safe and enjoyable session. You are welcome to download, print and sign the pre-ride declaration before you get here to save time on the day.

We even take photographs of you (and your party) riding the segways,  so you have a visual momento to keep and remember your experience by.

Soft drinks and tea/coffees are available to buy on site and we have extensive Free parking.

Come Rain or shine

As segwaying is an outdoor activity, you will need suitable clothing for all weather conditions, depending on which season you have booked a session during.

If it is cold or wet you will need warm layers and a waterproof coat and/or trousers. Flat sturdy footwear - boots or trainers are most suitable.

During warmer weather it is best to wear light comfortable clothing and please remember sunscreen for hot days in the spring and summer months.

Don't Forget

You need to arrive 15 mins prior to your allotted session time.

Please check your journey time and plan your route to the Segway Unleashed site, to ensure you arrive on time, stress free and ready to have fun!

Once the session you are booked onto has started, we are not able to allow late arrivals to join and we will have to re-book your experience for another day.

In case you miss any information or just want to check something, please feel free to contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum or maximum age to ride Segways, what are the height and weight restrictions?

We advise riders should be older than 10yrs. There is no maximum age but riders will need to be able to step up and down quite quickly onto a raised platform unaided and stand for approximately 45 mins /hour.

Riders need to be approx 5.5-stone (35Kgs) or over to allow the Segway to work effectively, there is also a maximum weight of approx 19 stone (120Kgs). Riders need to be about 4’6” minimum height (1.40m) and under 6’7” (2m) as the handle bars only adjust so much in relation to height.

How much will it cost to ride Segways?

Our prices start from £25 per individual for a 45 minute weekday session and £35 per individual for a 45 minute weekend or bank holiday session. For group activities and private bookings, please contact us for more details.

How do I book my Segway experience with a voucher?

If you have a voucher from one of our resellers, a gift company or from us directly, simply click the ‘Book Now’ option on our home page and follow the instructions. If you don’t have a voucher and you want to join a public session you can do this online too via the ‘Book Now’ option on our homepage. If you’re interested in booking a private party, a company day out, a film-shoot or something else that we haven’t even thought of; please contact us directly.

I need to re-book my Segway experience, how do I do it?

We appreciate people sometimes need to change their bookings. If you need to change your booking, please contact us directly and we will help you to reschedule. You will INCUR A REBOOKING FEE (currently £15/booking) if you notify us of a change with less than 7-days’ notice before your booking.

I can’t get through on the phone to speak to someone?

Our admin office is open Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm, the office is mostly closed at weekends. If you can’t get through, please leave us a message or send us an email and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can. Our automated telephone system is designed to direct the most frequently asked questions, but if you select option 5 on the menu, you’ll go straight through to staff if available.

What happens if I am late for my session?

Our Segway sessions run on a strict timetable and we ask that all Segway Unleashed customers arrive onsite 15-mins prior to the session start time to avoid delay and disappointment. Due to safety and training at the start of every session, we are unable to allow late arrivals to join, once the session has started. As per our T&C's it is the customers responsibility to arrive on time. If you are too late to attend your booked session, we will always try to book you onto a later session, or another day. However, rebooking fees will apply.

I'm lost and can't find Segway Unleashed?

We send out detailed instructions of how to find us with your booking information, so you should be able to get to us on the day of your session easily. We advise you use our printed directions which can be downloaded from our contact page and don’t rely on a SatNav. If you are lost on the day you can ring: 0800 1 70 70 74 and choose option 3 and our recorded message will give you advice on how to find us. Please note it’s your responsibility to get to us ON TIME and at the right location.

Are segways dangerous?

Segway Unleashed take training people to ride safely and confidently very seriously. Our staff are first-aid trained and we never push you to do something you’re uncomfortable with. The Segway’s are actually surprisingly easy to ride and have amazing built in stability control, so falling off is fairly difficult to do (but not impossible). We have had clients of all ages and ability levels, from children to pensioners, ride with us, safely, confidently and with maximum enjoyment!

Are segways easy to ride?

We think so... it’s all about your confidence; we’ve trained the most nervous and inexperienced riders, to people who ride superbikes for fun, and so far we’ve never had someone who couldn’t do it! The Segways are amazing and do a lot of the work for you, they are so unique they are almost indescribable, but we’ve had successful riders from children to people well into their 70’s!!!

What should I wear?

Riding a Segway is an outdoor activity. We advise loose, easy to move-in clothing and flat shoes (trainers or boots are ideal). If it’s cold and/or wet, bring warm clothing and waterproofs. It’s entirely possible that you’ll get muddy, so it may be a good idea to bring a change of clothes or shoes!

Do I need my own safety clothing?

We’ll provide you with a helmet (full face) which must be worn whilst riding. If you have a motorbike/Moto-X helmet of your own that you want to bring and wear that’s fine. We use/provide full face Moto-X helmets onsite for your safety.

What if it's raining?

Segway’s can operate with no problem in light rain and/or winds (normal UK weather conditions), so it will NOT affect your booking. In the event of stormy weather, very heavy/prolonged rains or heavy snow, we will probably cancel your session, for health and safety reasons. In the event of us having to cancel, we always contact our customers at the earliest opportunity to let them know. Please note, we advise all our customers to call us on the day of their activity to check we’re going ahead (option 2 on our phone menu).

Are you insured?

We are. Segway Unleashed is owned and operated by Stansted Ventures Ltd. We ensure our business has public liability insurance and sensible procedures in place to ensure safety and compliance to UK legislation. Our staff are also first-aid trained.

Is my booking going ahead?

On the day of your booking, please call 0800 1 70 70 74 and choose OPTION 2. The message on this option will confirm whether we’re running or not. If we need to cancel an activity, we will send you a text message to let you know and an email with rebooking information. The recorded message on Option 2 will be changed as soon as we make a decision to cancel and should be ‘correct’ by 09.00-09.30 on the day of your booking. If you haven’t heard from us and the message says we’re running, assume we’re running!

Do I need to sign anything before I ride a segway?

We have a standard disclaimer that you are required to sign before the sessions start. The decision of our staff about whether you are fit to ride is final. Please email us if you have any medical conditions that you think could be an issue for riding a Segway. The disclaimer is available to view on our website.

Do you sell refreshments on site?

Yes, we do. We have a selection of cold drinks, tea, coffee, snacks and ice lollies for sale (subject to availability).

Can I hire a segway to use at my own venue?

We do hire Segways offsite for special events, but they are never left unattended by our trained and qualified instructors. Please contact us for details if you have an event that you would like us to give you a quotation for.

What's the biggest group size you'll take?

For information on group and party bookings for more than 8 people or private event hire please contact us for details.

I haven't received or can't download the session photography I purchased?

If you’ve bought photography from us and you have not received the email link, then firstly check your SPAM folder as often the link from YOUSENDIT/HIGHTAIL will go in there. If you still can’t find it, then please email us on: stating what day, time and location you rode on and we’ll resend the pictures to you. If you are trying to download the file to your phone or tablet it WON’T work, you MUST download the picture file to a computer. For downloading instructions please visit the ‘Downloads’ section of this website where you can view full instructions to help you download the images. If you’re still struggling, please email us directly.

Do you offer other activities?

We do have other activities available by request and in advance. Activities other than Segway experiences are operated by others and we cannot guarantee availability. Please contact us for more details.

Are segways illegal in the UK?

They’re not illegal to buy, however they are illegal to ride on or in any public highway or place. So you can’t ride them on the road, pavement, bridleway’s, or in the park. Segways can only be used on private land with permission. A Segway is technically classed as a vehicle and like any vehicle, cannot be ridden without proper training and insurance.
